The ultimate badminton championship where VCs sweat it up
“Venture Capital industry in India in general is combative and very collaborative in nature, but there are few gatherings to exchange ideas in an informal fashion and just enjoy each other's company. With the Badminton Championship we aim to achieve that.”
- Pankaj Makkar, MD, Bertelsmann India Investments
2016 Participant Funds
The Bertelsmann Badminton Championship is a unique event that brings the marquee Venture Capital (VC) community and other investors to compete against each other in an Olympic winning sport, providing an sportive and enriching networking environment.
To celebrate the spirit of our investment community –foresightedness, risk-taking and perseverance- the Bertelsmann Badminton Championship invites 1-2 team per fund (2 people) to compete for the badminton championship at the Commonwealth Games venue, the DDA stadium on Siri Fort. After battling it out against India’s top-notch VCs, the event is followed by a fun-filled evening of dinner, drinks and entertainment (covered in 2016 by the famous comedian Papa CJ), where also the BBC trophies and shields are awarded.
Over 20 funds and 50+ venture capitalists participated in 2016's exciting edition, won by the Sequoia Capital team. Don’t miss it out and RSVP for the 2017 edition! It promises to be grander!
