The ultimate badminton championship where VCs sweat it up
“Venture Capital industry in India in general is combative and very collaborative in nature, but there are few gatherings to exchange ideas in an informal fashion and just enjoy each other's company. With the Badminton Championship we aim to achieve that.”
- Pankaj Makkar, MD, Bertelsmann India Investments
Once again Bertelsmann India Investments hosted their annual Bertelsmann Badminton Championship in September 2017. It is a unique event that brings the marquee Venture Capital (VC) community and other investors to compete against each other in an Olympic winning sport while simultaneously giving them the chance to network and to get to know each other better.
To celebrate the spirit of the investment community –foresightedness, risk-taking and perseverance- the Bertelsmann Badminton Championship invited 1-2 team per fund (2 people) to compete for the badminton championship at the Commonwealth Games venue, the DDA stadium on Siri Fort. After battling it out against India’s top-notch VCs, the event was followed by a fun-filled evening of dinner, drinks and entertainment. This year, an exciting activity known as “Mixology” had led to guests mixing and creating a variety of cocktails.
Around 20 funds and 50+ venture capitalists participated in 2017's exciting edition, which this year was won by the Kalaari Capital team and the runner up team was from Infoedge. Don’t miss out on this wonderful event and RSVP for the 2018 edition!
